NZSL level 2d is a follow up course to NZSL level 2c. This course will extend the receptive and expressive skills of students at an intermediate level. This course is suitable for those who have completed at least 105 hours of NZSL tuition.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this Intermediate 2d course, learners will learn:

Unit 16 (Our Country)

  • Report and discuss key demographic facts about New Zealand
  • Explain an everyday ritual/event in your culture
  • Describe experiences of New Zealand outdoor activities (e.g. camping, boating)

Unit 17 (Travel and Destinations)

  • Describe and contrast information about NZ and overseas travel destinations (e.g. geographical environment, attractions, activities)
  • Narrate personal experiences with travel-related incidents (e.g. delays, natural disasters, illnesses or mishaps)
  • Negotiate tasks for planning a trip (e.g. dates, itinerary, booking accommodation)
  • Extend their understanding of NZSL grammatical structures
  • Develop further awareness of the cultural context for using NZSL with Deaf people

$175 for 7 weeks course including e-certificate, e-handouts and homework.

    Course Overview:

    NZSL level 2b is a follow up course to NZSL level 2a. This course will extend the receptive and expressive skills of students at an intermediate level. This course is suitable for those who have completed at least 75 hours of NZSL tuition.

  • NZSL Level 1d Beginner Course

    Course Overview:

    NZSL level 1d is a follow up course to NZSL level 1c (approximately 45 hours of NZSL tuition). By the end of NZSL level 1, learners will be able to:
    • understand and use NZSL in simple conversations on familiar topics
    • understand and use basic grammatical structures of NZSL in simple sentences or questions.
    • appropriately use visual conversational behaviours in NZSL.
    • show basic understanding and awareness of Deaf culture and community in New Zealand.
