This course will extend the receptive and expressive skills of students at an intermediate level. This course is suitable for those who have completed at least 60 hours of NZSL tuition.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this Intermediate 2a course, learners will learn:

Unit 10 (All About Me)

  • Give, ask and summarise personal information about self and others.
  • Narrate about life events including their language learning journey.
  • Describe and identify people in order to share information about them.
  • Tell about extended family/whānau and basic family history.

Unit 11 (Home Life)

  • Describe activities, food and environment-related topics in the home
  • Make and respond to requests and complaints related to home life
  • Discuss responsibilities and schedules for domestic chores and errands
  • Recount personal experiences about mishaps and problems in the home.

$175 for 7 weeks course including e-certificate, e-handouts and homework.

Notes: Please note that registering online confirms your place in the course. Minimum number of students applies – if minimum numbers are not meet course may be postponed or cancelled.     NZSL level 2c is a follow up course to NZSL level 2b. This course will extend the receptive and expressive skills of students at an intermediate level. This course is suitable for those who have completed at least 90 hours of NZSL tuition.

  • NZSL Level 1d Beginner Course

    Course Overview:

    NZSL level 1d is a follow up course to NZSL level 1c (approximately 45 hours of NZSL tuition). By the end of NZSL level 1, learners will be able to:
    • understand and use NZSL in simple conversations on familiar topics
    • understand and use basic grammatical structures of NZSL in simple sentences or questions.
    • appropriately use visual conversational behaviours in NZSL.
    • show basic understanding and awareness of Deaf culture and community in New Zealand.

  • NZSL Level 2b Intermediate Course

    Course Overview:

    NZSL level 2b is a follow up course to NZSL level 2a. This course will extend the receptive and expressive skills of students at an intermediate level. This course is suitable for those who have completed at least 75 hours of NZSL tuition.

  • NZSL Level 1a Beginner Course

    Course Overview:

    Learn New Zealand Sign Language in this 7 weeks Beginner 1a course. Suitable for those students with no knowledge or basic knowledge of NZSL. Students prefer face-to-face learning and it’s a great opportunity to meet new people.  The course will cover topics, see the Learning Outcomes.
